Rankings

Our own rankings, computed from every result we hold — no panel, no votes. A world title outweighs a national one because the event's weight is measured from who turned up; who-beat-whom carries across federations; recent results count more than old ones. Rival federations' near-identical divisions are merged where fighters' own careers prove they're the same class.

How these rankings work

Score is half achievement — every win earns points by the round it was, medals add bonuses, all of it scaled by the event’s computed weight and decaying with a two-year half-life — and half strength, a Bradley–Terry rating over every contested result: transitive (beating the one who beat the champion counts) and weighted by the event, how recent the fight was, the margin on the judges’ own cards, and how unanimous the verdict was. Walkovers earn a quarter of a win’s points and no strength at all — the boxing didn’t happen.

Event weight is measured, never assigned: an event is strong if strong fighters enter it, and a fighter is strong if they win at strong events, iterated until it settles, seeded by how many countries fielded a boxer.

Divisions merge themselves: rival federations’ classes within 2 kg whose rosters share five or more careers are one division under two rulebooks — 92 kg with 90, 63.5 with 65 — proven by the fighters who boxed both.

The dot is confidence — how much weighted evidence a rating rests on. Pound-for-pound compares people who will never meet; it uses cross-division achievement and sex-wide strength, and it is inherently arguable — that’s the fun of it. Everything recomputes from scratch when a new event loads; a ranking is only ever “as of” its date.
